Amrit Dhaliwal, founder and CEO of Walfinch, is launching a series of events to help entrepreneurs understand how to enter the home care sector.

Nearly half of home care providers say they are unable to meet current demand, despite improvements in staff retention, according to the Home Care Association.

The National Audit Office has predicted that, in England alone, the number of adults aged 65 and over needing care will be 57% higher in 2038 than in 2018.

Dhaliwal said: “The company’s regular Founders Table events are attracting around 300 applications for just 15 places.

“The sessions highlight the current and future opportunities in home care and outline different routes into the sector.

“It’s everything I wish I’d known before I got into the sector.”

The Founders Table offers face-to-face advice from business development specialists and care sector experts, alongside case studies from franchisees who have built businesses from scratch to more than £1m in turnover.

Dhaliwal, a former hospitality entrepreneur who became a franchisee with a major home care provider, has also written Time To Thrive: The Home Care Revolution, a book about his career and advice for readers.

Richard Stanfield, franchise support manager at Walfinch, said: “The events are designed to give prospective business owners a realistic understanding of the sector.

“We want people to come in knowing as much as possible, whether they set up in business on their own or join Walfinch.

“With realistic expectations, they are more likely to succeed.”

The next Founders Table will take place on July 4 at Soho House in Manchester.
