Glasgow’s OVO Hydro played host to 5,000 Scottish fans ahead of their historic World Cup debut in over two decades, with their first match against Haiti on Sunday, June 14.

Our Moment Live, a fanzone event marking the team’s first appearance at the tournament in 28 years, was designed to capture the spirit of the Tartan Army, with the game aired on a 20-metre screen.

Before the game, live music was performed for the crowd by artists such as Dougie MacLean, Donnie Munro, and others.

Des Clarke and Beth Wallace hosted the event before handing over to pundits Charlie Mulgrew and Ron McLean for match analysis.

Brian McLean, Head of Communications at the SEC and OVO Hydro, said: “Ever since Scotland qualified in November, we wanted to give fans a proper celebration.

“The Hydro was the perfect place to host this.”

“As it stands, we are showing the three group games, and should Scotland qualify, then we’ll look at how we can put the same party back on for everybody.”

The SEC confirmed that the fanzone will return for Scotland’s next group matches, Morocco on Friday, June 19 and Brazil on Wednesday, June 24, and if the team advances.

Dominic McKay, CEO of the Scottish Event Campaigns, said: The atmosphere has been from start to finish, and what made it so memorable wasn’t just the football, it was seeing families, friends and supporters from every corner of the country come together under one roof.”

The OVO Hydro typically holds over 150 events a year.
