LAWYERS ARE MOST PROACTIVE IN TACKLING CLIMATE CHANGE
Scottish eco tech business Pawprint is helping us reduce our carbon footprints, has today announced that law firms are taking the lead in fighting climate change. Almost 1/6th of the businesses and organisations currently using Pawprint to encourage employee carbon reduction efforts are law firms.
Since the employee engagement platform launched earlier this year, legal behemoths such as; Burness Paull, Brodies LLP, Dickson Minto, Fieldfisher and DWF have been amongst the first to use it to engage, unite and support employee carbon reduction efforts. They are joined by businesses from all different business sectors, including Tesco Bank, Royal London, abrdn and CGI, with investment houses as a sector being the second most proactive.
Pawprint is one of a growing breed of businesses harnessing technology to solve some of the biggest issues of our time and was recently highlighted by the UK Government as a Climate Leader. They were the only SME invited to speak at the FTSE’s Race To Zero event. The purpose driven business has been awarded B Corps certification in recognition of its commitment to sustainability, ethics and accountability.
Pawprint works by empowering employees to take control of their carbon footprints using the handy Pawprint app, encouraging participation through eco-Sprints, teams and leaderboards. Businesses meanwhile gain unique insights into their Scope 3 emissions including commuting, business travel and home working.
Christian Arno (pictured above), Pawprint founder and CEO said; “Representing one of the oldest, most respected professions, it’s really encouraging to know that lawyers are the most proactive in tackling climate change. Having some of the most analytical brains in the country using Pawprint for Business really does keep us on our toes in delivering a world class platform.”
Lindsay Wallace, General Counsel Partner & Head of Sustainability, Burness Paull said: “We were proud to be the first law firm to sign up to Pawprint for Business last year, and it continues to play a key role in engaging colleagues as we move forward on our journey to net zero. With over 200 members of the firm signed up, we’ve been able to see real traction in activity, for example through undertaking sprint challenges and setting new carbon reduction goals as we return to the office.
This all forms part of our commitment to sustainability, formalised through an external environmental audit and monitored by our Environmental Committee. It’s fantastic to see the legal sector embrace Pawprint for Business and we hope to see this continue as ESG remains high on all our agendas.”
