The London Internet Exchange (LINX), a leading Internet Exchange Point (IXP) operator enhancing digital infrastructure across the UK, Africa, and the United States, has appointed Patrick Mbogo as its new Business Development Executive to drive expansion within Africa.
With over 15 years in the telecoms industry in Africa under his belt, Mbogo brings a wealth of experience in business development and strategic planning. Previously working at Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Mbogo joins LINX with vast experience in project management and submarine cable contracting as well as new frontiers set up and management.
Patrick will be the point of contact for networks looking to connect to LINX’s new Internet Exchange Points in Nairobi, Mombasa and, soon, Ghana. His deep understanding of the African market and proven track record in driving growth make him a valuable addition to the LINX team.
Jennifer Holmes, CEO of LINX, commented: “Patrick’s appointment is a significant step in our mission to enhance connectivity and support the digital transformation across Africa. His expertise and vision align perfectly with our goals, and we are confident that he will play a pivotal role in our continued success.”
Mbogo commented, “I am excited to be part of an organisation that is at the forefront of improving internet connectivity in Africa. I look forward to contributing to LINX’s growth across Africa and helping to build a more connected and digitally empowered continent. Expanding connectivity is not only key to driving economic growth, but also to unlocking access to education, healthcare, and new opportunities for millions across the region.
LINX continues to invest in its infrastructure within Africa and partnerships that facilitate efficient and reliable internet exchange services, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the region’s digital economy.
Over the past two years, LINX has expanded across Africa with new IXPs in Nairobi (2023) and Mombasa (2025) hosted in major data centres like iColo, Africa Data Centres, IXAfrica, and PAIX. These individual, interconnected hubs localise internet traffic and enhance regional connectivity, attracting major players such as Meta and Starlink.
With LINX Accra set to launch this summer, Patrick’s appointment reinforces LINX’s commitment to expansion and growth in West Africa. LINX’s investment in open, carrier-neutral platforms is reducing latency, cutting reliance on international transit, and strengthening local digital ecosystems across the continent.
Founded in 1994, the London Internet Exchange (LINX) is one of the world’s leading Internet exchange points (IXPs), providing peering services to over 900 autonomous systems (ASNs) globally.
As a member-owned, not-for-profit organisation, LINX operates IXPs in London, Manchester, Scotland, and Wales in the UK, as well as in Northern Virginia, USA. New interconnection locations were launch in Kenya in 2023, with LINX Nairobi being the first footprint in Africa for the IXP. LINX Mombasa followed in February 2025 and LINX are busy preparing for their first IXP in West Africa to be launched later this year.
LINX is renowned for its commitment to enhancing Internet connectivity and performance. By facilitating direct data exchange between networks, LINX helps reduce latency, improve speed, and increase reliability for Internet users worldwide.
With a focus on world-class engineering and 24/7 network operations centre (NOC) support, LINX ensures robust and reliable services for its members.
The organisation regularly invests in state-of-the-art infrastructure to maintain its position at the forefront of the IXP industry.
LINX’s unique structure as a mutual organisation means that all members have an equal say in its governance. Members participate in Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs) to discuss and vote on key issues, ensuring transparency and collective decision-making.
