A luxury tanning salon in Urmston is preparing to mark its first anniversary after transforming a former laundrette into a stylish and welcoming destination for customers.
Glowing Limited opened in November 2025, offering what owner Dawn Lambert describes as a different kind of tanning experience, combining premium equipment with a relaxing, lounge-style environment.
The business holds special significance for Dawn, who grew up less than a mile from the premises and has fond childhood memories of the former laundrette. Drawing on her experience in property renovation and management, she took on the challenge of transforming the vacant building into a modern salon.
The extensive refurbishment included structural changes, new electrical installations, flooring, ceilings, air conditioning and a complete interior makeover. The result is a space that customers often compare to an elegant living room rather than a conventional tanning salon.
Dawn said her vision was to create somewhere customers could relax and enjoy their visits rather than simply arrive for a tanning session and leave. A five-foot aquarium adds to the peaceful atmosphere, helping make the salon stand out from other tanning businesses.
She explained that creating a welcoming environment was just as important as the salon’s appearance, with the aim of giving customers a place to unwind and enjoy some time for themselves.
Dawn also credits her team for playing a vital role in the salon’s growing popularity. She said recruiting friendly, approachable staff who genuinely enjoy helping customers was one of the most important decisions she made.
Customer feedback has been particularly encouraging, with visitors regularly praising the team’s helpfulness and welcoming attitude. Dawn believes this personal approach has helped build customer loyalty and encouraged repeat visits.
The salon also has a personal touch, with Dawn’s young daughter occasionally spending time there with her mother and becoming a familiar face to some regular customers.
Glowing offers four premium hybrid sunbeds, with the same high standard of tanning equipment available across all four beds. Instead of providing different equipment levels at different price points, the business aims to make premium tanning accessible at competitive prices.
Customers can choose from flexible tanning packages, with one distinctive benefit being that purchased tanning minutes never expire. Additional features include convenient parking, air conditioning and a strong focus on cleanliness and customer care.
As Glowing approaches its first anniversary, the salon continues to attract new visitors through word-of-mouth recommendations and repeat business, helping it establish a presence in the local community.
Reflecting on the first year, Dawn said building a successful business takes time but described the experience so far as encouraging. She expressed enthusiasm about continuing to develop the salon and welcoming more customers in the years ahead.
