UKCM’s Mobile Refurbishment teams mark major milestones
Posted On October , 2023
Container repair and refurbishment specialist UK Container Maintenance (UKCM) is celebrating the significant success of its mobile offering by announcing a series of key landmarks.
Over the past 12 months, the experienced mobile teams have restored and refurbished a noteworthy 15,500 4-wheeled steel waste containers and a range of 500 FELs (front-end loaders), RELs (rear-end loaders), skips, roll-on roll-off (RORO) containers, and bulk carriers at their customers sites, with the refurbishments and repairs saving customers a meteoric £3.6 million (approx.) in comparison to buying new.
UKCM has six mobile teams that travel across the length and breadth of the United Kingdom to businesses of all sizes, delivering refurbishments at the customer’s premises. Each team can perform repairs and restorations on a minimum of 16 trade bins or 6 FELs per day, in addition to repairing large roll-on roll-off containers on-site.
Danielle McIntosh (pictured above), On-site Manager at UKCM, commented: “Over recent years, we have seen a substantial increase in demand for our mobile service, with customers benefiting from repair and refurbishment work completed at their depot to the same exacting standards as those carried out at our main facility in Cheshire.
Our dedicated team of skilled maintenance engineers, with our fleet of fully equipped mobile units, can carry out a full range of repair and refurbishment tasks as well as completing coded welding, statutory testing, site audits, LOLER testing, and other essential repairs to ensure both safety and compliance.
The efficient and easy turnaround is a cost-effective solution for containers that do not require full factory refurbishment, reducing supply and maintenance costs for customers as well as lowering their carbon footprint by removing the need for collections and deliveries.”
She added: “It is a pleasure to reflect on the key milestones achieved by our mobile teams over the past year and to celebrate the impact that they have made. At UKCM, we continuously strive to provide solutions for a sustainable future by reacting to the needs of the waste industry, with budget cuts and pressures to reduce carbon footprint high on the agenda.
We utilise all materials so that otherwise redundant container stock and damaged parts are re-manufactured, recycled, and reused, all promoting a circular economy.”
Established in 1998, UKCM is dedicated to refurbishing all types of waste and recycling containers. UKCM works across the country offering waste companies and local authorities, mobile repairs, as well as factory-based services at its head office located in Winsford, Cheshire.
The process brings old, and often unwanted, waste containers back to life instead of them going to scrap. The business model – refurbishment over replacement – is simple.
