THE PAINT SHED CELEBRATES 30 YEARS
L-R: Managing Director Michael Rolland & Executive Chairman Ogilive Rolland
The Paint Shed, the UK’s most recommended independent paint retailer, celebrated 30 years of retail growth this week. The family business started in 1956 and opened its first retail store in Edinburgh in 1992.
Since then, the company has opened a growing total of 18 stores across Scotland and Northern England, employing 75 people, whilst continuing to expand its ecommerce business.
Increasing consumer appetite for DIY products has resulted in marked growth for the company. At a time when some retailers are closing physical retail outlets, The Paint Shed is proud to be using this growth to commit to more stores, creating more jobs in local communities.
The company’s eighteenth and most recent Inverness store opened in March 2022, and the Paint Shed will now soon announce a nineteenth store, opening in Scotland, during the summer of 2022.
To celebrate the 30th birthday of its stores The Paint Shed will be offering special discounts on products in store and online. There were also celebration events in all 18 stores from 8am – 2pm, including giveaways, and special deals for visiting customers.
BGF, the UK’s and Ireland’s most active investor, invested £2.7m in The Paint Shed in 2020 to help drive its successful store and ecommerce expansion, improve processes across the operation, and provide useful sector introductions. BGF investor Graham Clarke also sits on the company’s board.
Michael Rolland, managing director of The Paint Shed, said: “We’re proud to be celebrating 30 years since we opened the doors to our first retail store, and we now look towards exciting further expansion. We have always been focussed on supplying the best quality products at the best prices, with great service too.
We owe our success to the support of our customers, our excellent suppliers and our dedicated and hardworking employees. Each of them deserves a huge thank you – we appreciate them all.”
