SHAWLANDS CLINIC CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL FIRST YEAR

Private health clinic, Quantum Health is looking back on a successful first year at its Shawlands location.
Founded by trained GPs Dr Kashif Ali and Dr Usman Haq both of who grew up in south of Glasgow to help the local community live healthier and happier lives. The clinic opened in 2021 and can be found 186 Kilmarnock Road, Shawlands.
Quantum Health started as a weight loss clinic offering dietary and lifestyle advice as well as medical support on safe use of licensed medications used for obesity. A stand out piece of equipment they offered was an FDA approved green laser used to aid fat loss.
During the last they’ve begun offering a range of services including private GP service, travel vaccinations and specialist services such as Psychiatry, Gynaecology and Dermatology.
With no other commitments during clinic hours they are able to reduce waiting times for appointments and allow patients to spend more time with their GP. They can give their patients access to health assessments and blood tests despite current NHS waiting lists.
A spokesperson from Quantum Health commented on the response from locals saying: “The response has been generally positive as we’ve had a lot of walk-in enquiries and requests for some services. We have also engaged with local My Shawlands community events which have brought us into the hearts of the community.
Being part of the Christmas fair was an important moment as it allowed us to engage with the local residents on a cold November night with lots of good discussion and advice on how to improve our health during the pandemic and subsequently during the winter months.”
Regarding what the future holds for Quantum Health they said: “We want to be the go-to-place for health assessments for people who wish to ensure they remain fit and healthy. We are aware such assessments are not currently routinely available on the NHS and we do not wish to burden the NHS during this difficult period.
We wish to be a centre for travel health and vaccinations in Glasgow south, further reducing the burden on the NHS and our local community pharmacies that are dealing with unprecedented workload pressures at the moment.”
