SCOTTISH CAR RETAILER BEATS OUT RIVALS TO WIN NATIONAL AWARD
Peter Vardy, the Scotland wide motor retail group, has been presented with the Retailer of the Year award for large scale retailers at the national Auto Trader Retailer Awards 2022.
The Motherwell-headquartered group has beaten competition from around 13,500 UK automotive retailers to receive the Retailer of the Year award for retailers with over 100 in-stock vehicles at the 15th annual Auto Trader Retailer Awards. The Retailer of the Year award is the highest accolade at the Auto Trader Retailer Awards.
It is awarded to those who demonstrate the very best practices in retail and consistently deliver top-quality customer experience across the entire car buying journey, from their online adverts to customer communication.
The award was judged by an independent panel of experts, including senior executives from Google, global strategy consultants, OC&C Strategy, automotive charity BEN, and sustainability specialists, The Carbon Literacy Project.
Now in its 15th year, the Auto Trader Retailer Awards celebrate the very best in automotive retailing; those brands that are pushing the standard of all aspects of the industry, including digital retailing, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
Peter Vardy (pictured above), Chief Executive of Peter Vardy Group, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this prestigious award and we thank Auto Trader and the judges for choosing to honour us in this way. A huge amount of work across all elements of the Group went into winning this it’s a real testament to the calibre of colleagues we have here”
Set up as a single dealership in Perth in 2006, the Peter Vardy Group of companies has grown to 14 dealerships across Scotland employing more than 1250 people.
This year, circa 13,500 of Auto Trader’s retailer partners were shortlisted to just 48 finalists split across seven different award categories, of which just 16 were crowned winners, determined by a combination of in-depth analysis of millions of data points, independent judging by a panel of experts, and the results from the UK’s largest consumer mystery shopping programme among auto retailers.
Accordingly, the winners are among the top 0.1% of Auto Trader’s retailer partners and are rightly considered the best of the best.
The ceremony took place at London’s iconic 8 Northumberland, just off Trafalgar Square, and marks the first in-person Retailer Awards ceremony since 2019. It was hosted by Auto Trader Sales Directors Rebecca Clark and Darren Moon, alongside Auto Trader’s YouTube Director and former Top Gear presenter, Rory Reid.
Auto Trader’s Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Coe, said: “The automotive market has been a rollercoaster over the last few years, and retailers have had to adapt quickly. The way people look for their next car, the way they buy it, the way they pay for it, and even the cars they want to buy have all changed. Arguably digital retailing services and the continued roll out of electric vehicles have been the biggest changes that retailers have needed to respond to and I have been astounded at how agile and adaptable retailers of all sizes have been in response. I’d like to personally congratulate all this year’s winners for all they have achieved.”
