MITCHELLS & BUTLERS LAUNCHES NEW FLEXIBLE WORKING APP
Posted On June , 2023
Birmingham headquartered hospitality operator Mitchells & Butlers recently announced that it has launched its new flexible working app M&B Flexible (powered by limber).
The digital platform aims to engage with a new generation of talent looking to work more flexibly by offering potential new team members the chance to pick their working hours, the type of role they would like to work in and the venue that they would like to work from, with a choice of sites from across all Mitchells & Butlers brands.
As one of the largest operators of restaurants, pubs and bars in the UK, Mitchells & Butlers has recognised the trend towards flexible working and wants to make sure it is at the forefront of this movement. By launching M&B Flexible, Mitchells and Butlers believes it can better compete in the employment market by offering another way of working and make more efficient use of talent by deploying this more fluid workforce.
M&B Flexible has been created in partnership with flexible working startup limber and has initially launched across sites in London and the Southeast. Through M&B Flexible, prospective employees can sign up, complete a profile and apply to work shifts at the sites of their choice. There are no minimum requirements and team can work as little or as often as they like.
M&B Flexible is available for all hospitality workers to sign up to, from those with industry experience to students, parents or those looking for part-time work. For more information, head to the M&B Flexible in the App Store or Play Store.
Craig Provett, Director of Compensation, Benefits and Employee Relations at Mitchells & Butlers, comments: “We’re really excited about the launch of M&B Flexible. It has been a long time in the making and we look forward to seeing new team members sign up through it. At Mitchells & Butlers it’s the people and culture that make working life fulfilling and we’re passionate about giving our people the support and flexibility they need.
In the first phase of our roll out with limber, their technology has enabled us to build flexible teams of talent who have gone on to complete 15,000 shifts at our businesses in London. We’ve really enjoyed working with them on this project – their ability to innovate is second to none and we’re delighted to be partnering with them via their white label technology.”
Chris Sanderson, founder of limber, said: “We’re delighted to be working with M&B to launch their own app. We believe that flexible working is not just a want but a need, with the trend only set to continue. We have seen over 80,000 new workers join our limber platform since pandemic restrictions eased, with numbers growing each day.
Flexibility forms a key part of the future of work and people thrive in an environment where they can adapt their work to their needs. Embracing this new way of hiring brings some difficult challenges for operators, not least the increased administrative impact of employing people on a flexible basis, but through a collaborative approach to create new technology like M&B Flexible we hope that we can alleviate those challenges.”
