Dental clinic to welcome 500 new NHS patients after reopening

Major expansion works have been completed at a long-established Glasgow dental clinic in a bid to meet the rising demand for dental services in the area.

Cardonald Dental Clinic reopened its doors on the 8th November, following an investment of £400,000 by sector leader, Scottish Dental Care.

Employing 10 team members, the clinic is all set to welcome a further 500 NHS patients from surrounding areas including Paisley, Renfrew and Ralston, adding to its active register of 4,000, an increase of 10%.

Commenting on the reopening of the clinic, local MP for Glasgow South West Chris Stephens said: “It’s fantastic to see investment into local businesses here in Cardonald. The expansion of Cardonald Dental Clinic will allow them to serve 500 additional NHS patients, providing much-needed access to affordable dental care.

Investing in the health of our communities is vital, and I commend Scottish Dental Care for it’s over £400,000 refurbishment of this clinic. With state-of-the-art new equipment and facilities, this clinic will enable first-rate dental care for local families for years to come.”

The practice has expanded its footprint by 55 sq. metres, added two new surgeries, as well as recruiting two new dentists as well as a hygienist. Additionally, the clinic will be introducing a new affordable dental plan, to offer both those struggling to find dental services, as well as existing patients.

Lead Clinician, Neil Scott, has welcomed the investment, and hopes the practice will be able to support more families in and around Glasgow.

Established in the early nineties, Cardonald Dental Clinic became part of the growing family-led dental group, Scottish Dental Care, in 2017.

The works include two brand new state of the art surgeries as well as a new staff area and new heating system and roof. Tasked with the refurbishments was Glasgow architects, NVDC and contractor, Interact Interiors. The local duo completed the facelift in just three months – with minimal disruption to the surrounding businesses.

The expansion of the Cardonald branch is part of Scottish Dental Care’s commitment to providing high-quality dental care to patients across Scotland.

The clinic offers a bespoke centre for the delivery of all aspects of NHS dentistry to the people of Cardonald, Crookston and Mosspark, as well as a full range of private treatments to include Invisalign and composite bonding.

Scottish Dental Care founded by brothers Philip and Christopher Friel, operates 20 practices in Scotland consisting of 80 dentists, employing more than 200 team members, and serving around 200,000 patients.

Philip, a renowned dentist and the group’s director of dentistry, sets the strategic clinical matters, while Christopher oversees the expansion strategy and group legal services in his role as mergers and acquisitions director.
