Glasgow Family Business Targets £6m Turnover Following £1.5m Expansion

By Business CNCT

Glasgow-based family business EVM is aiming to increase its annual turnover from £3m in 2023 to more than £6m by March 2027, supported by a £1.5m expansion programme.

The signage, branded graphics and interior fit-out specialist, based at Thornliebank Industrial Estate, has acquired the premises next to its existing headquarters, increasing its overall capacity by 40%.

The additional 30,000 sq ft of space will support expanded production, logistics, stock storage and the company’s growing workforce, allowing EVM to increase capacity while remaining at its established Glasgow location. Plans include a new roof and an interior fit-out of the acquired building.

The expansion is expected to increase the workforce from 36 to 47 employees. Recruitment will focus on experienced joiners and carpenters, digital printing and finishing specialists, and installation technicians.

Bank of Scotland is supporting the project with a £300,000 commercial mortgage. EVM has maintained a relationship with the bank for more than 15 years.

The company has delivered a range of major projects across Scotland, including branding and signage for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the World Gymnastics Championships, alongside marketing suites for the Athletes’ Village development in Glasgow’s East End.

Its more recent projects include head-office fit-outs for Edrington and Cala Homes, as well as wayfinding signage for COP26, the UCI World Cycling Championships and the World Gymnastics Championships.

Managing director Paul Fennon said the business had grown significantly over more than three decades, with continued investment in its workforce, skills and advanced manufacturing equipment playing a key role in its development.

He explained that acquiring the neighbouring property offered a valuable opportunity to expand without relocating the business or disrupting the established team.

Fennon added that the additional space would enable EVM to recruit more skilled employees, create new career opportunities and maintain the quality of service that has supported its growth.

The expansion represents a significant step in EVM’s long-term growth strategy, strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and creating further opportunities to serve customers across the signage, graphics and interior fit-out sectors.
