TOP RATED INDIAN RESTAURANTS IN SCOTLAND
While the last two years of staying home has allowed us to still enjoy our favourite takeaways we’ve been robbed of being able to enjoy restaurants. Something as simple as getting ready to go out to a restaurant can provide an experience that you can’t get otherwise.
Indian restaurants have been a staple in the UK for a long time with curry becoming one of Scotland’s favourite dishes. Despite how difficult it’s been the last couple of years for the hospitality sector some Indian restaurants still managed to thrive not just through takeaways but be taking bookings from smaller parties.
The following restaurants were provided by the 2021 Scottish Curry Awards.
EVEREST INN
This Perth based restaurant achieved a reputation for excellent cuisine and fine dining. Their food is prepared with the finest fresh herbs, spices and fresh produce available.
They make sure their customers can enjoy the very best of Indian and Nepalese cuisine prepared by individual chefs with a touch of the unexpected. They also look to provide the best of the world’s wines and traditional desserts to enhance the dining experience.
This helped them pick up the award for Best Dining Experience of the Year: Central Scotland at the Scottish Curry Awards.
MOTHERLAND SPICE
Since opening in 2012 this family run restaurant has been highly successful because of their unique, authentic Indian & Nepalese cuisine.
Motherland Spice has brought expert chefs from India & Nepal to bring the real taste of authentic cuisine in Britain. They are famous in Scotland for the ‘Chicken Tikka Baja’ and ‘Lamb Tawa’ dishes and are proud to be the only restaurant in Scotland to serve these two dishes. They also specialise in our South-Indian cuisine.
They like to think of their food as a journey, one during which we can take you places which will excite, places you might not have thought of going, but ones you will enjoy once you get there. Their menu takes you on a trip from the ultra-cool slopes of the Everest to the fiery plains of Madras, from the lush valleys of Swat to the bountiful Indian Ocean, with more than several stops along the way.
They walked out of the Scottish Curry awards with the Outstanding Indian Restaurant of the Year award.
HIMALAYAN DINE IN
The food served at this Airdrie based restaurant gives customers an insight to the taste of the Himalayas acknowledging the freshest of ingredients in every bite you take.
A team of chefs that have been working in the culinary world for over 16 years which helps to ensure their regulars get the quality of food that is expected as it would be in a fine dining environment.
Their aim to bring an insight of authentic blends of Nepalese tastes to customers’ .The team has worked on acknowledging the best ingredients to represent cuisine of land of the Himalayas. They are committed to serving high quality food to their customers at an affordable price.
They aim to ensure delicious taste, subtle flavours, and the best hospitality. This helped them pick up Best Loved Restaurant: South West at the Scottish Curry Awards.
BOMBAY JOE’S
This restaurant has been open since March 1999 and is still attracting customers to sample the high-quality food and enjoy the bright, attractive surroundings.
Dining in the restaurant means you can admire the décor originally designed especially by renowned interior designer and architect, Alan Beaton in 2011 and updated in 2019 to the highest standard.
The years of dedication helped them pick up Best of Dundee at the Scottish Curry Awards.
CINNAMON
Cinnamon’s creators have been at the forefront of Indian cooking in Scotland since the 1960s.
Their restaurant in Cambuslang has been serving up fantastic and healthy Indian cuisine since 2007 and locals just can’t get enough. They’re dedicated to using fresh and organic ingredients to ensure customers always get consistently high-quality and delicious curries that burst with flavour.
These efforts paid off at the Scottish Curry Awards as they picked up the Best of Glasgow Award.
RISHI’S INDIAN AROMA
Rishi’s Indian Aroma offers a mix of traditional classic favourites and original dishes. Made from freshly ground ingredients, we serve fresh and healthy food, the taste originating straight from our grandmother’s Kitchen.

BOMBAY DREAMS
Bombay Dreams is a multi-award winning restaurant that has been serving Indian food in the Cumbernauld area since 2004 and make sure that their customers are always coming back for more.

They believe your taste buds should be intrepid explorers seeking out the best flavours. Bayleaf Indian Restaurant’s fine dining serves to everyone’s taste buds.
Their restaurant is a family friendly place that has a function suite to hire for all kinds of occasions. They look to bring authentic taste of Indian cooking to Scotland in a healthy yet uniquely traditional style.
They picked up Best Dining Experience of the Year South East at the Scottish Curry Awards.
VINYASA
Located on St Mary’s Street in the heart of Edinburgh’s old town this restaurant specialises in Indian cuisine and fish dishes. Their team have a combined 65 years experience in the kitchen making sure their passion can be tasted in every bite.
They picked up Best of Edinburgh at the Scottish Curry Awards.
