PROPERTY CONSULTANTS APPOINT NEW PARTNERS
Hardies Property & Construction Consultants has appointed Gareth Cordiner its new North Division Managing Partner and Douglas Smith its new Dundee Partner.
Promoted to Partner three years ago having joined Hardies three years previously as an Associate within its Aberdeen office, Mr Cordiner is a Chartered Building Surveyor specialising in dilapidations, expert witness reports, and project management with over 20 years’ experience within the commercial, industrial and office sectors.
Of his appointment he said: “Having managed our Aberdeen and Inverness offices over recent years, I’m delighted to secure the position of North Division Managing Partner which will see me add our Perth and Dundee offices to my responsibility.
I look forward to undertaking a comprehensive strategic overview of our progress throughout the North while continuing to explore opportunities to offer a holistic approach to the delivery of a broad range of services to our burgeoning client list through the continuing consolidation of our close relationship with sister firm Shepherd Chartered Surveyors.”
Mr Smith is an experienced Commercial Director who joins Hardies as Dundee Partner and joint head of Quantity Surveying with over 30 years’ experience within the construction and property sectors.
A Chartered Professional Quantity Surveyor with over 10 years’ experience prior to entering the contracting world, he has a proven history of managing SMEs within the construction industry, building significant profitable turnover and maintaining and developing existing and new clients with a portfolio of completed construction projects in excess of £500 million.
He said: “I’m delighted to join the firm and excited by the prospect of contributing my expertise and experience to help Hardies realise its potential and continue its growth trajectory throughout the UK.”
Hardies’ Senior Partner, Danny McArthur, added: “Following the departure of Darron McKay, who held the joint roles of North Division Managing Partner and Dundee Partner, we are convinced that the division of these roles through Gareth’s promotion and Douglas’s appointment will bring a fresh impetus to these strategically important positions.
Much of the growth achieved over recent years has been in Building Surveying, and Gareth’s promotion to the management board acknowledges the strategic importance of that service and enhances our capability to realise our vision of becoming a UK wide recognised national surveying firm.”
He added: “And to secure the appointment of someone of the standing of Douglas as Partner in Dundee, with his abundance of energy and passion and such a breadth of valuable commercial experience, brings a different dimension to the business.
Our ambition, of which these appointments mark a key milestone, is that, together with sister firm Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, we have the infrastructure to offer a national surveying service, having identified a demand from clients for a single point of contact for the delivery of a comprehensive range of property advice and services throughout the UK.”
