MORRIS & SPOTTISWOOD CELEBRATES WINNING MULTIPLE PROJECTS
Posted On May , 2023
Morris & Spottiswood has won four affordable housing projects across the UK as the business bolsters its housing team with a senior appointment and continues to focus on its sustainability offering for clients.
In England, Morris & Spottiswood has won its first housing project through the YORbuild3 Minor Works Framework, which seeks to deliver new build and refurbishment projects as well as new housing up to 25 units. Morris & Spottiswood is the preferred contractor for East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s development of six traditionally built houses and 10 flats at Cherry Tree Avenue in Withernsea. The team was appointed due to their flexibility and agility in meeting all project requirements.
Three new projects in Scotland include Caledonia Housing Association’s Berryknowe Avenue development of a bungalow and eight two-storey, timber frame houses; a steel frame block of 10 flats at Dalmarnock Road for Thenue Housing Association; and five new homes for Barnardo’s, which is a Gap Homes initiative to provide bespoke supported accommodation for care experienced young people.
Morris & Spottiswood has also appointed Kevin McCulloch as Operations Manager to support the ongoing growth of the housing division. Kevin has previous experience working as both Operations and Contracts Manager in the construction and housing industry and will support efficient and innovative project delivery as the business continues to scale.
Brian Pettigrew, Housing Director at Morris & Spottiswood, said: “We have put a significant focus on sustainable solutions for our clients through our offering of modern methods of construction (MMC), modular housing, and Passivhaus, and we are at the forefront of technical capabilities to support carbon net zero goals.
We are already leading affordable housing projects and addressing fuel poverty with highly energy-efficient building envelopes, triple glazing, solar panels, air source heat pumps, and EV charge points. As local authorities and housing associations work towards both building and sustainability targets, our experience and technical capabilities can facilitate these requirements right across the country.”
Kevin McCulloch (pictured above) added: “This is an exciting time to join Morris & Spottiswood as the housing division experiences a period of growth. As a forward-thinking business, it’s great to see the attention that has been placed on sustainability and the provision of energy-efficient technologies that will have a real, measurable impact on the affordable housing sector in the UK.”
Founded in Glasgow in 1925, Morris & Spottiswood operates across the UK in fit-out, M&E, and housing, with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Livingston, Warrington, and Leeds.
