FDM Group moves up in the Social Mobility Employer Index rankings
Posted On October , 2023
FDM Group, a leading tech talent provider, has risen in the 2023 Social Mobility Index, moving from 48th to 34th in the rankings. The rise is attributed to their commendable apprenticeship programmes and skills training for school leavers.
The Index was first launched by the Social Mobility Foundation in 2017, acting as the benchmark for organisations committed to improving social mobility in the workplace. The Foundation aims to promote and celebrate companies that progress talent from all backgrounds.
Employers are assessed on key criteria like youth engagement, entry pathways, recruitment, and career advancement.
The Social Mobility Commission’s latest State of the Nation report shows a significant disparity in occupational and educational outcomes based on parental backgrounds. Adults with working-class parents are three times more likely to hold working-class jobs, while those with degree-holding parents are much more likely to attain degrees (64% versus 18%).
FDM Group has recently been named on the government’s Flexi-job apprenticeship agencies register for the digital and workplace skills provided on its apprenticeship programme as well as the placement schemes provided by the company. Agencies on the Flexi-job register also help employers with non-standard employment models to improve the value and usage of apprenticeships.
Rod Flavell, CEO of FDM Group, said: “Social mobility is hugely important in the UK, especially as tech skills continue to rapidly evolve, so I am delighted that FDM Group has been recognised for our commitment in this area. We are driven by the fantastic consultants that demonstrate ambition and an aptitude to succeed, regardless of social background.”
A diverse and inclusive employee base is essential for workplace success, bringing together diversity of thought and creativity at every stage of the business. Our programmes welcome individuals from varied backgrounds, offering the latest digital skills training to meet industry demands and fostering career growth.”
