FDM Group appoints industry veteran as Group Director of Information Security
Posted On February , 2025

FDM Group, a leading global business and technology consultancy, has appointed Sawan Joshi (pictured above) as its new Group Director of Information Security to lead the company’s governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) initiatives, ensuring the organisation upholds the highest standards of security and regulatory compliance in an ever-evolving threat landscape.
Over half of businesses experienced a cyber breach in 2024, rising among medium and large businesses, amid rising global cyber threats, according to the Government’s Cyber Breaches Survey. Phishing, impersonation, viruses and malware were among the most common threats, putting security leaders on high alert.
Joshi will be tasked with defining and implementing a comprehensive GRC strategy for FDM Group, with a focus on building a scalable and proactive framework to address critical areas such as supply chain security, regulatory compliance, and human resource risks. His efforts will further enable FDM to provide highly trained and skilled consultants to organisations operating in heavily regulated industries.
Sawan Joshi, Group Director of Information Security at FDM Group, commented: “I am incredibly excited to be joining FDM Group, a company that truly stands out for its mission to drive growth and create opportunities for people.
Britain has faced significant economic challenges since the 2008 financial crisis, but FDM is designed to help tackle these issues by offering employment to diverse groups, including ex-service personnel. This approach not only supports the economy but also demonstrates FDM’s commitment to being a people-focused organisation. I am thrilled to be part of this dynamic team.”
He added: “One key skill that every information security professional must master is the ability to communicate clearly and concisely. You are building your career on subject matter expertise, and that naturally positions you as a leader. However, it’s important to think of yourself as a business leader first and then lead with your specialisation.”
FDM provides trained and skilled consultants to highly regulated organisations. My goal is to ensure that our future sales pipelines continue to be closed successfully without concerns about privacy and security, so FDM remains a leader in the industry.”
Sheila Flavell, COO of FDM Group, commented: “Security is at the heart of every business, and Sawan is a leading expert in this area. His deep expertise in governance, risk, and compliance will be invaluable as we continue to grow and support clients in highly regulated industries.
We have complete confidence in his ability to strengthen our security framework and drive our commitment to excellence.”
As the founder of TriStep.io, an auditable platform, Joshi has made compliance more accessible to organisations, particularly charities in England and Wales. TriStep helps organisations build compliance with important standards like ISO 27001, 22301, 9001, and Cyber Essentials, simplifying the process and enabling them to achieve certifications with ease.
In addition to his professional achievements, Joshi is an author and thought leader in the cybersecurity space. His book, The InfoSec Career Resilience Guide, provides valuable insights for professionals aspiring to build resilient careers in information security by focusing on knowledge and adaptability.
As Joshi steps into his new role, his focus will be on ensuring that FDM’s sales pipelines remain secure and aligned with privacy and compliance standards. By embedding advanced GRC practices into the organisation’s operations, FDM aims to strengthen its position as a trusted partner for clients across industries.
