BRITS HEAD FOR THE SUN FOR EXTRA BANK HOLIDAY
Posted On April , 2023
As the King’s Coronation draws closer, the UK’s no.1 travel agency, Barrhead Travel, has reported a surge in bookings over the new bank holiday period, on Monday, May 8th. With bookings up 55% compared with the same period in 2019, the agency is reporting May is currently the third top booking month, just behind summer months June and July.
Savvy holidaymakers are able to take full advantage of the three-day long celebrations by using the bank holiday to jet away for 10 days using only four days’ leave.
The most booked popular holidays for Brits looking to take advantage of the extra May holiday include med cruises from Southampton, Tenerife, Costa Blanca and Canada.
Jacqueline Dobson, President at Barrhead Travel said: “Bank holidays have long been a popular time to travel but it’s really interesting to see how many people are optimising the extra holiday for the King’s Coronation after only being announced late last year. Following a record-breaking Easter, it’s clear that people are making the most of their holidays and taking advantage of some of the fantastic deals available.”
She added: “The top durations across this Bank Holiday period are mainly seven nights or longer – so it looks like people have decided to tie in their annual leave and take a long trip. The fact that we’re seeing long haul destinations, such as Canada, amongst the most sought-after places is a sign that holidaymakers are keen to tick-off long-awaited bucket list trips.
May is a popular time for both families and friends to get away before the peak of summer and we have a range of deals on offer to suit every budget, destination and taste.”
Barrhead Travel’s retail network is open seven days a week until late as well as offering evening support through their online service, call centres and social media channels.
