SCOTTISH HOUSEBUILDER CONSOLIDATES REGIONAL BUSINESS
Cruden Group is consolidating its regional housebuilding businesses into one central operation. Cruden Building (East) and Cruden Building (West) will be combined to form Cruden Building (Scotland) Limited.
Some 180 employees from Cruden Building (East) will transfer over to the combined business, which will have a total of nearly 500 employees. When put together, the businesses have revenue of £170m.
The group confirmed that post-consolidation, the businesses will continue to operate from its two bases in Edinburgh and Glasgow. No redundancies have taken place and its pipeline of construction work is said to remain untouched.
The change in business strategy comes amid what it said it preparation for the “changing construction landscape”, involving an increased focus on sustainability and modern methods of construction.
In March 2021, Hart Builders, which was focussed on work in east Scotland, was acquired by the Cruden Group, which is both a developer and construction firm, and rebranded to form Cruden Building (East).
Group chief executive Kevin Reid said: “Creating a core construction business within the group, with common management and culture will deliver a huge number of benefits, including greater consistency of approach, and facilitation of best practice and knowledge sharing as we strive to continually develop innovative ways of working.”
