NEW SCOTTISH FOCUS FOR PHS BESAFE
Gary Barnes has been appointed the new Business Development Manager of phs Besafe as it expands its specialist workwear services across Scotland.
Barnes (pictured above) will be focused on providing protective workwear and PPE solutions for industries including construction, industrial engineering, welding, chemical and aggregates.
PHS Besafe is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of specialist workwear and laundry solutions. Its award-winning in-house laundry and drying processes are unique to the industry, offering a low energy service that preserves the life of the garments.
Their innovative drying process ‘Drysafe’ uses infrared sensors to constantly monitor the moisture levels in the garments and the core temperature of the drum and halves the time it takes to dry garments.
Unlike conventional dryers commonly used in the sector, it ensures a constant drying temperature and an automatic stop once the garment is dry; halving the time the machine needs to run, saves energy and prolongs the life of the garment. It was awarded the Green Impact Award at the Laundry and Dry Cleaning Awards 2020.
Gary who has been working within the laundry and workwear sector for the last six years said: “I’ll be focussing on helping businesses within the central belt of Scotland, including Greater Glasgow, Ayrshire, Falkirk, Edinburgh, Lothian and Fife.
Having the correct, high-quality workwear and PPE for the workforce is a major priority for Scottish businesses. Not only does it protect employees, it also protects the business, ensuring their compliance with health and safety obligations. Unfortunately, there is too much fake PPE and workwear in the market at the moment and it can be a costly and tragic mistake to make.”
He added: “I’m proud to be part of the team at phs Besafe, ensuring no-one falls into that trap. Besafe is part of the phs Group, supplying thousands of garments and laundering more than 1.2 million items every year. The team is so knowledgeable, helping to ensure the safety and comfort of employees in sectors ranging from chemical processing to transport.
We take care of everything for our customers from measuring and supply the correct workwear, to specialist garment laundry and disposal services. Our unique and award-winning laundry processes not only reduce energy and costs, but they also support our customers’ own environmental efforts and corporate social responsibility policies.”
Derek Brown, Managing Director at phs Besafe, said: “We are excited to be expanding further into Scotland with our services.
Gary, who lives in North Lanarkshire himself, understands the importance of good quality workwear and a reliable service in these key industries, so he is ideally placed to work with these businesses and ensure more employees are adequately protected in Scotland.”
