Leeds Brewery Tartarus Beers Launches £40,000 Crowdfunding Campaign for New City Centre Taproom

By Business CNCT

Leeds-based microbrewery Tartarus Beers has launched a £40,000 crowdfunding campaign to help open a new taproom in the city centre, following the closure of its previous venue in 2025.

Established in 2020, Tartarus Beers began with a mission to produce high-quality craft beer with a distinctive mythical theme. Since starting with a 100-litre brewing kit, the business has grown into a 2,500-litre brewery in Sheepscar, just outside Leeds city centre, building a loyal following along the way.

After closing its Sheepscar taproom in 2025, the brewery is now preparing to establish a new home in the city centre, giving customers another opportunity to enjoy its range of freshly poured beers.

To support the project, Tartarus Beers has launched a Crowdfunder campaign with a target of £40,000, inviting its supporters to contribute towards bringing the new venue to life.

Announcing the plans on Instagram, the brewery said it was excited to confirm that a new bar was on the way in Leeds, following numerous requests from customers asking when its taproom would reopen. The exact location is yet to be announced.

The planned venue, named Tartarus Tap, will offer a broad selection of drinks, including Tartarus Beers’ own range alongside international beers available on tap and in fridges. The brewery also plans to host special events featuring international breweries.

Visitors can expect a varied drinks menu featuring lagers, IPAs, stouts, meads, wines and low- and no-alcohol options. The venue will also offer rare bottles from the brewery’s private cellar.

The crowdfunding campaign has already raised £7,000 towards its £40,000 goal. Supporters can receive rewards depending on their contribution, with incentives including branded T-shirts, vouchers and discount cards.

The brewery hopes the campaign will help turn its plans for a new city centre venue into reality while bringing its growing community of craft beer enthusiasts together once again.
