BlockAPT has launched Pivotra AI Essential, a cyber defence product for small and medium-sized businesses.

The launch comes as cyber incidents remain a concern for UK businesses. According to the UK’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2025/2026, 46% of small businesses and 65% of medium businesses reported a cyber breach or attack in the past 12 months.

Stephen Hudson, CEO of BlockAPT, said: “SMEs are the backbone of the economy, but too often they are left defending themselves with tools designed and priced for enterprises.

“Pivotra AI Essential gives smaller organisations autonomous cyber defences, without a large Security Operations Centre and without enterprise pricing.”

Small and medium-sized businesses face the same kinds of threats as larger organisations, including phishing, malware, ransomware and business email compromise, but often have fewer resources and smaller budgets to deal with them.

Those risks can also be costly. Earlier this year, a Birmingham engineering firm reportedly lost £340,000 after a deepfake call that copied its managing director’s voice.

Pivotra AI Essential uses a three-step model — Activate, Connect and Protect — to monitor incidents, sort and assess alerts, contain threats, fix issues and learn from attacks.

It also detects risks in real time and uses AI to help decide what action to take, including containing threats, blocking activity, quarantining files and repairing damage.
