Shepherd markets prime retail space near Glasgow’s Central Station

The owner of Blue Lagoon has instructed Shepherd Chartered Surveyors to bring to market prime retail, office and hospitality space for lease at the former Tower Records building near Glasgow’s Central Station, adjacent to McDonalds.

Blue Lagoon director Alessandro Varese purchased the building at the entrance to the Hielanman’s Umbrella on Argyle Street last year with a Sexy Coffee outlet opening on the ground floor.

The new Argyle Tower references its past with a mural of the famous impromptu Bon Jovi set in the summer of 1995, when the singer dangled from a window on the second floor to serenade a 5,000-strong crowd below.

As well as the Bon Jovi mural, the owners of the Blue Lagoon chain confirmed they will have a suite named after them, while one will be named after Texas and another for Wet Wet Wet.

The first, second and third floor of the five-storey building with access to upper floors via separate entrance are now available for retail, hospitality and office rental.

All three floors extend to 2,460 sq ft and feature views of the famous Glasgow Central sign and the Four Corners.

Fraser McDonald, surveyor at Shepherd, said: “This represents a unique opportunity to rent space in an iconic B-listed building in the heart of Glasgow city centre.

The substantial premises may be suitable for a beautician parlour, wellness centre or gymnasium and are being offered for lease in their current condition with rent free incentives, with discounts offered at Sexy Coffee for tenants and clients.”
