Amey is proud to announce that it has provided employment to vulnerable workers who lost their jobs when the social enterprise they were employed by went into liquidation.

After the firm’s closure made headlines, Amey employed those who had lost their jobs, providing sixteen job placements.

This includes eight roles under Amey’s Edinburgh school’s contract, one operations manager post inside GeoAmey, and seven cleaning roles. Some have seen a rise in hours and compensation as a result of this employment.

Supporting vulnerable people and helping them avoid unemployment is a high priority for Amey. In line with this, Amey works in close collaboration with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and has signed up to several of its initiatives, such as the Social Value Recruitment Covenant.

Craig McGilvray, Managing Director for Complex Facilities, said: “At Amey it’s important that we support the communities we operate in. When we heard about the redundancies that were happening, our team reacted quickly to find solutions and help prevent unnecessary unemployment.

I’m proud that we were able to offer the majority of people impacted roles within our business, and to use our networks to find potential employment opportunities for others. We recognise the importance in supporting those who are vulnerable, and I’m pleased that these people are now valued employees at Amey.”

Amey’s Complex Facilities business carries out facilities management, asset management and project works across the education, justice, defence, and health sectors, as well as for local and national government.
