All-electric vans from Europcar will help motorists and businesses take important steps to go green
Posted On March , 2024
Committed to helping motorists and businesses move to electric mobility, Europcar Vans & Trucks has added the Mercedes-Benz eVito to its fleet.
Available from key locations around the UK where the ULEZ and Clean Air Zones are in operation, hiring the all-electric model makes sense for private motorists who want to reduce their impact on the environment.
Renting it for a few days, a week or longer also gives businesses an ideal way to test out electric motoring in real-world conditions before committing to the lease or outright purchase of EVs for their fleet.
The all-electric 66 kWh eVito has a combined WLTP range of up to 162 miles with the capacity to deal with the demands of most day-to-day business, carrying a maximum payload of 807kg and a loading space of up to 6.0m3. It is ideal for enterprises that need hard-working commercial vehicles, making it a great introduction to electric motoring for company drivers.
It also gives anyone with a DIY project or needing to move big items a clean and green way to get the job done. And taking the charge-anxiety out of the experience, there’s no need to recharge when renting with Europcar.
Every electric vehicle on the Europcar fleet is supplied with between 50% and 80% charge and the customer doesn’t have to recharge before returning the vehicle. However, the eVito can be charged in 35 minutes when using a rapid DC charger. Plus the Europcar Deliver & Collect service means the vehicle is delivered and picked up from their address so they don’t even have to worry about charging at the end of the rental.
Sarah Clarke, Consumer Marketing Manager, Europcar said: “The recent House of Lords Environment and Climate Change inquiry identified that there is still a lot of misinformation circulating about electric motoring. Our mission at Europcar is to dispel those myths by giving companies and drivers commitment-free access to electric vehicles so that they can understand everything about electric motoring, including range, charging and the overall driving experience.
The commercial vehicle market is especially challenging because electric vans require a relatively high capital outlay that could put them out of reach for small businesses. By putting the eVito onto our fleet, we’re providing a real-world test drive facility without requiring any long-term commitment. We’re also making it possible for individuals who just need a van for a few days to get the job done with little impact on the environment.”
The Mercedes-Benz eVito is available from the following Europcar locations around the UK include:
Birmingham Newtown
Glasgow Lancefield
London Kings Cross
Oxford
Sheffield
It can also be delivered and collected, from only £25 each way on top of the vehicle rental rate.
Sarah added: “Businesses use commercial vehicles for a wide range of jobs, from multiple local journeys in a day to longer motorway trips. As such, some journeys will be better suited to electric vans than others. Consideration must also be given to range and charging options before investing in any zero or low emissions vehicles.
Short-term rental of the Mercedes-Benz eVito gives businesses an invaluable real-world test drive experience through which they can see what will work for their operations. It also enables them to identify any adaptations they may need to be made to their current ways of working.”
